Two new microscopy surveys peer into Materials Sector


MME's Materials Solution 2001 covers the traditional world of metallography and more routine materials applications while their ISTFA 2001 report (International Symposium on Testing and Failure Analysis) focuses more extensively on failure analysis engineers in semiconductors. Information was collected by paper survey completed by scientific attendees, generating perspectives from the true "voice of the customer".

Each survey provides an overview of the industry and equipment use as well as market share in multiple technologies (from light and electron microscoopy to image analysis and cameras), key marketing direction (tradeshows, publications, etc.) and buying trends. Of special interest is a short study on Internet purchasing trends, budgets, and drivers. Since both meetings were post-9/11, the data provide a realistic view of the changed face of American industry and academe.
